ABOUT CANNINGTON 

Our Cannington operation is one of the world's largest producers of silver and lead.  Located in northwest Queensland, Cannington boasts an underground mine and processing facility situated approximately 800 kilometres west of Townsville and a concentrate handling facility at the Port of Townsville. Cannington mine provides on-site accommodation including meal services, as well as sporting and gym facilities.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This is a permanent position on an 8:6 roster, FIFO from Townsville/Brisbane/Cairns or DIDO from Mount Isa to Cannington.

As the Health & Injury Prevention Specialist, you will provide support and specialist guidance in injury prevention, ergonomics, injury management, fitness for work, rehabilitation and return to work processes, including the development of suitable duties plans and related documents. You will also plan and deliver regulatory health surveillance (legislative medical and pre-employment and periodic medical) activities and reporting. 

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

  • Participate in visible-felt leadership, in-field observations, offering support and technical guidance to positively influence our safety guarantee. 
  • Maintain health information, medicals and data integrity. 
  • Analysis of health data to identify trends to inform necessary mitigating measures and controls.
  • Participate in the development and execution of injury prevention and management strategies (both short and long term).

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

  • Significant injury case management experience including complex claims (psychical and psychological) and working with stakeholders at all levels – required.
  • Performing functional capacity, workplace, and ergonomic assessments (spirometry and audiometry assessment experience desired)
  • High level of computer literacy and experience using health related systems (Medgate/Cority experience desirable but not essential) and microsoft office suite word/excel/powerpoint/sharepoint – required.

Qualifications for this position are: 

  • Undergraduate or post graduate qualification in Occupational Therapy/Exercise Physiology/Physiotherapy with current and unrestricted AHPRA or ESSA registration.
