PERTH OFFICE

South32’s corporate office is based in the heart of Perth’s CBD. The corporate office houses key functions, including HR, Legal and External Affairs, Finance, Corporate Development, Investor Relations, Group Risk, and Technical. Our office is conveniently located a 5-minute walk from the Perth Underground Train Station.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is a permanent, full-time position. This role will preferably be at our corporate office in the heart of the Perth CBD, or alternatively be based onsite at Cannington with fly in fly out from Brisbane. We understand and value the benefits flexibility brings and operate a hybrid work model (in the office and from home)

As the Principal Business Planner, you will coordinate the Life of the Operation Plan (LoOP), bringing all other functional elements together for the Cannington Operation, including costs, capital expenditure, marketing and sales, development projects, sustainability considerations and community plans. This ensures the long-term mine plan is a fully dynamic blueprint for the operation to reach its full value potential. 

Reporting to the Group Manager Planning, other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

  • Process-driven with an agile mindset to ensure quality and pointed deliverables.
  • Works intimately with our Operational and Functional stakeholders to ensure the robustness of plans.
  • Provide technical, operational, and commercial support and challenge to ensure optimal business outcomes!

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

  • Minimum five years experience in a technical role, with a minimum two years’ experience in Underground Operations.
  • Experience in leading multidisciplinary projects with a strong focus on stakeholder engagement and delivery of robust business outcomes
  • Experience in developing C-suite and board-level documents/presentations.  
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to influence at all levels.

Qualifications for this position are: 

  • Relevant degree (mining/processing/industrial/etc. engineering, accounting or business), or the equivalent of qualification gained through practical experience.
  • Second degree or postgraduate preferred (MBA, marketing or business)
