The role will cover all RTIO Resource Development areas in the PIlbaraand is offered on an 8 days on, 6 days off, day shift only roster FIFO from Perth
About the role
The Advisor Mechanical will join our compliance team and is responsible for supporting Rio Tinto Iron Ore Resource Development field activities by ensuring common machinery standards apply across all Rio Tinto and contractor mechanical equipment.
You will be responsible for identifying and setting actions to rectify non-conformances found during drill rig inspections.
The role will require with travel required across the Pilbara as well as visiting contract partner premises in Perth or Pilbara centres.
Reporting to the Principal with no direct reports the ideal candidate will:
Drive a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance to safety standards and procedures
Demonstrated ability to plan and conduct assurance activities
Champion leadership in the field (LIF) including Critical Risk Management (CRM)
Manage their own schedule and work autonomously
Have well-developed stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills
A passion for exploration drilling industry innovation
A current Manual C-class WA Driver’s license
Skills and Qualifications
Minimum of 7 years as a Drill Fitter or in a similar position within the mining industry.
Recognised certification in Mechanical or Diesel Fitting.
Proven experience in troubleshooting and repairing drilling equipment.
Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
A good level of computer literacy
Relevant Experience
Working with high pressure air and complex hydraulic (pneumatic) systems
Expert knowledge and experience with a wide range of drills.
Experience in the delivery of technical training to maintenance personnel and operators.
A strong awareness of Australian Standards and industry leading practice.
Awareness of functional safety
Awareness of non-destructive testing requirements

Where you’ll be working
The role will be based across our Greater Nammuldi / Brockman region.
Located 60km north-west of Tom Price, Brockman is wholly owned and operated by Rio Tinto. Opened in 2010, this open pit operation offers a family friendly fly in fly out roster with state-of-the-art camp facilities.
