Our Deflector Gold/Copper mine is in an exciting growth phase with both the mine and the mill expanding. We have recently completed the expansion of the Processing plant, which added a CIP circuit and second Ball Mill to the existing crushing, grinding, flotation and dewatering circuit. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented Apprentice Electrician to join our Maintenance team to provide effective and safe planned and preventative maintenance to a high-performing operation.
THE ROLE
This is an amazing opportunity for a motivated and reliable Apprentice Electrician to gain knowledge and experience in Mining Electrical Maintenance. This role offers a smooth transition into the workforce, allowing you to kickstart your career in the mining industry. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for providing and maintaining high levels of safe electrical maintenance across the operation, including the plant and infrastructure of site and camp. You will become a key asset to the social, hardworking, and cohesive team at the Deflector Mine.
Key responsibilities of this role will include:
- Working closely with experienced Electricians in performing electrical maintenance across the operation
- Develop knowledge in Gold Processing fixed plant maintenance, water supply systems, tailing dams and other mine and camp infrastructure
- Assisting in fault finding and failure diagnostics as required
- Liaising with Supply personnel on electrical purchasing and inventory
- Performing all work in a safe manner, and in accordance with Job Procedures and JSA's
- Contributing to Maintenance and Operation strategy to ensure optimum equipment performance and availability
- Reporting on completed maintenance tasks to ensure improvement opportunities are maximised
- Ensuring the electrical workshop facilities and equipment are in good working order; and
- Complying with the Office of Energy Electrical Requirements and Mines Regulations.
ABOUT YOU
You are an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual with a high level of initiative, who can communicate effectively and work as part of a diverse team. In addition to your dedication to maintaining a high standard of safety, your excellent problem-solving abilities, and passion for your trade will see you become a vital part of the Maintenance team.
You will also be able to demonstrate:
- Commencement of Electrical Trade qualification (all year levels considered)
- Basic understanding of Electrical installations and maintenance
- Great attitude and a strong safety focus
- Strong work ethic, punctuality and reliability
- Ability to learn on the job and follow instructions/standard procedures
- Possess good physical fitness to perform manual hands-on tasks
- Ability to commit to a 4-year electrical apprenticeship
- Be able to pass a pre-employment medical including drug & alcohol screen
- Hold or be able to obtain a National Police Clearance that meets site requirements
- Have a safe and methodical approach to maintenance
- Hold a current "C Class" WA Drivers Licence (Manual desirable)
You will have the opportunity to be part of a fantastic team, working a day shift only 8:6 roster, either FIFO from Perth or DIDO from Geraldton and surrounding areas.
