ABOUT CANNINGTON
Our Cannington operation is one of the world's largest producers of silver and lead. Located in northwest Queensland, Cannington boasts an underground mine and processing facility situated approximately 800 kilometres west of Townsville and a concentrate handling facility at the Port of Townsville.
Flights are direct to the onsite airport, and the mine is only 3.5 km from camp—the perfect distance for a sunset walk or run home along a purpose-built walking track. The onsite accommodation includes meal services, sports/gym facilities, swimming pool, music room, and social area.

ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a permanent position on a 4:3, 4:3, 8:6 roster, FIFO from Brisbane or Townsville, or DIDO from Mount Isa, Cloncurry and McKinlay shires.
As the Control Systems Engineer, you will integrate Process Control Systems that enable continuous and efficient operations across Cannington’s processing and dispatching facilities.
Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
- Provide specialist application and technical advice and manage external suppliers.
- Support the transition of new or enhanced technology services.
- Configuration and management of the Process Control Network including development, deployment, testing and optimisation of the network.
- Build interfaces between different PLC Control Systems, Instrumentation, SCADA, HMI, MES, Historian.
- Effectively fault find, diagnose and resolve processing problems.
ABOUT YOU
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
- Passion and commitment to workplace safety
- Experience working in a similar role within Mining or Heavy industry
- Knowledge of AVEVA Plant SCADA
- Experience with modification and review of electrical and P&ID drawings
- Knowledge of Rockwell Automation Programming Software and PLC’s
- Ability to configure and troubleshoot Industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Profibus and Profinet
Qualifications for this position are:
- Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Degree qualification in Electrical engineering or similar
- Electrical trade certificate (desirable)
- Current Manual Australian Driving Licence
