About Us

Jimblebar is an open-cut pit iron ore mine located 40 kilometres east of Newman, in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The Jimblebar iron ore mine is one of five mines and four processing hubs that make up Western Australia Iron Ore – an integrated system of joint ventures connecting 1,000 kilometres of rail infrastructure and port facilities.

The rollout of BHP’s first fully autonomous haul truck fleet at Jimblebar was completed in 2017 resulting in reduced risk exposure to driving-related hazards, improved productivity and an opportunity for our workforce to gain new skills. In FY2021, Jimblebar achieved record production.

Location

You will be based at our ‘Jimblebar’ mine site on a fly-in fly-out 8 days on, 6 days off, 7 nights on, 7 nights off roster. Jimblebar is an autonomous truck mine and is located 40kms North East of Newman, Western Australia. The outstanding facilities at Warrawandu FIFO village include; a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, golf driving nets, outdoor cinema, netted cricket pitch, tennis and basketball court; beach volleyball court, games room, music room and TV lounge. All rooms at the village have access to 4G wireless internet and Skype, an ensuite bathroom, flat screen television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.

About the Role

We are seeking experienced Digger and Dozer operators committed to reducing workplace risk through active participation in behaviour based safety programs, hazard and event reporting procedures whilst contributing to a productive & healthy team culture.

Reporting to the Mining Supervisor, within the Mining Production Autonomy team your duties will include:

•    Operate Digger and Dozer machines and excavators as per operational needs •    Complete daily pre-starts on equipment and inspection of your work area •    Maximise compliance with operational plan by ensuring all activities are performed and carried out in accordance with plan and work instructions •    Monitor performance of equipment and compliance with mine operating procedures through inspections •    Actively participate in maintaining appropriate standards of behaviour (Code of Business Conduct)

About You

As the successful candidate, you will possess the following:

  • Experience in a production mining environment operating some of the following machinery or their equivalent: D10 Dozer, Liebherr 9400 and 996 Excavators.
  • Experience operating wheel loaders in a production loaders is advantageous but not essential
  • Experience with autonomous haulage systems is advantageous but not essential
  • Flexible, team-orientated approach with strong communications skills
  • Working knowledge of the Mines Safety & Inspection Act & Regulations
  • Commitment to continuous improvement
  • HR class WA driver’s licence preferred but C class license essential
