About the Role

Reporting to the Reliability Superintendent, you will join an inclusive and high performing team, who plays an integral role in achieving long-term, measurable improvements in safety, performance and efficiency of our Fixed Plant electrical assets.

You will help drive the South Flank’s strategic plan with the following responsibilities:

  • Provide important input towards a high achieving Fixed Plant Maintenance team
  • Engage in daily safety activities and discussions to promote achievement of personal and team safety goals
  • Analyse key reliability data to identify and implement optimisation/improvements to constantly improve plant reliability and help our in-house customers to achieve business goals. Manage and participate in root cause analysis investigations on breakdowns to eliminate defects
  • Manage reliability and maintenance of fixed plant electrical assets
  • Coordinate and participate in high value improvement projects
  • Manage the lifecycle of equipment by ensuring the effectiveness of strategies including offsite repairs and manage the integrity of equipment data and records
  • Coach team members on best practice data capturing to ensure quality
  • Provide day to day support to maintenance execution on technical queries relating to equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Demonstrated collaboration and communication skills with cross functional teams
  • Support inputs towards annual budgeting cycle

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have the following skills and attributes:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering 
  • Proven experience in managing small projects 
  • Proven problem solving skills with Reliability Engineering concepts and with experience of using tools such as FMEA, RCA, or similar
  • Proactive mindset and practical approach to problem solving by spending time in field and working closely with frontline teams
  • Efficiently and effectively manage change and develop sustainable improvements
  • 7+ years working experience in maintenance and/or reliability engineering in Mining or Oil and Gas industry
  • Have a strong experience in Work Management and Material Master Data Management particularly in the SAP environment
  • Sound knowledge of Australian Standards and WA Mines Regulations
  • Strong engagement skills and a customer focused mindset to constantly communicate effectively and build mutually beneficial relationships with our customers
  • Demonstrate the confidence to lead by example, hold yourself and others accountable and coach others in ‘Safety Leadership

Location 

This position is based at South Flank and is offered as a 5/2/4/3 FIFO roster.

South Flank is BHP's newest iron ore mine, and the biggest in 50 years. It expands existing infrastructure at Mining Area C, adding 80 Mtpa of new crushing and screening capacity, an extensive overland conveyor system, expanded stockyards and new train loading facilities to form the largest iron ore hub in the Pilbara region. Its brand-new mining fleet is the biggest and best in class, and has been converted to autonomous operation, in line with South Flank's future-facing design.
