Reporting to the Events and Conferences Manager, the Events and Communications Officer supports the successful planning, delivery and promotion of Fortescue’s corporate events and conferences programme.
The role works closely with internal stakeholders, external suppliers and event partners to coordinate event logistics and communications activities that strengthen Fortescue’s brand, reputation and stakeholder engagement outcomes.
The Events and Communications Officer plays a critical role in managing the administrative requirements and day-to-day coordination of the Events and Conferences team. The role provides the structure, process and follow-through required to support a busy event portfolio, including managing payments, invoices, purchase orders, budget tracking, supplier coordination, reporting and team administration.
Acting as a central coordination point across internal teams and external partners, the role helps ensure priorities are aligned, information flows effectively and events are delivered efficiently, professionally and in line with Fortescue’s governance requirements.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the planning and delivery of corporate events, conferences, exhibitions, site visits and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Support event project management including timelines, budgets, registrations, venue coordination and supplier management.
- Develop and distribute event communications, invitations, attendee information and post-event reporting.
- Prepare event collateral including presentations, briefing documents, run sheets, signage and promotional materials.
- Manage event registration platforms, guest lists and attendee communications.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure events align with business objectives and communication priorities.
- Coordinate external vendors, venues, caterers, production companies and event partners.
- Support sponsorship and conference opportunities, including exhibition logistics and brand activation activities.
- Monitor event budgets, purchase orders and invoice processing.
- Capture and analyse event metrics and stakeholder feedback to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Ensure all events and communications activities are delivered in line with Fortescue brand, safety and governance requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualification in events, communications, marketing, public relations or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating corporate events, conferences or stakeholder engagement activities.
- Experience developing written communications and event-related content.
- Strong project coordination and administration skills.
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders and external suppliers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and event management platforms.
- Experience working within a large corporate environment is desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational capability.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
