About the role:

We are currently seeking an experienced Fitter to join our Wilpinjong mine site. Our Wilpinjong mine is an open-cut mine located 48 kilometres northeast of Mudgee producing a high-quality thermal coal for export and domestic markets. 

Reporting to the Senior Maintenance Supervisor, the scope of your role will require you to work within the maintenance team, where you’ll be responsible for keeping heavy equipment and processing assets running reliably across a busy site.

Key duties of the role include, but not limited to: 

  • Maintenance and repairs on mobile plant, haul trucks, graders, water carts, loaders & excavators
  • Fault finding, servicing and preventative maintenance on heavy machinery
  • Supporting shutdowns, breakdown response and reliability work
  • Working closely with operations teams to minimise downtime
  • Maintaining safe work practices and compliance with site procedures

Requirements

  • Trade qualification Certificate III in Mechanical Fitting Plant or Diesel Mechanic
  • Strong experience in heavy industry — manufacturing, quarry, mining, logistics or large-scale industrial environments
  • Ability to work long hours
  • Strong diagnostics and fault‑finding experience
  • Exposure to electric trucks desirable

About you:

  • Previous experience in a Mechanical Fitter Role.
  • Hands-on experience servicing and maintaining heavy earthmoving mobile plant (trucks, dozers, graders and excavators)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair mechanical & electrical faults
  • Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, CAT VIMS and SIS
  • Ability to work independently & in a team environment

What You Need:

  • Trade qualification Cert III Mechanical/Engineering
  • Working at Heights & Confined Space High Risk Licenses (Preferred)
  • Pass a pre-employment medical.
  • Flexibility to work rotating roster (days & nights)
  • Hold a current driver's license.
  • A strong safety‑focused mindset and a focus on continuous improvement
  • Need to be able to work under a pressure in a dynamic environment, with great problem-solving skills
