Our Hydrogeology group delivers water management excellence across all stages of mine development, from concept through to operations and closure. As part of this group, we are seeking a Groundwater Modeller to join our Perth-based team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual passionate about hydrogeology to contribute to the success of our Pilbara iron ore operations.

You’ll support groundwater modelling tasks, providing vital input for dewatering, water supply, and environmental impact assessments. This role offers excellent development opportunities, serving as a foundation for advancing into more complex modelling responsibilities.

Reporting to the Superintendent Groundwater Modeller, your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing, maintaining, and reconciling groundwater models using tools such as MODFLOW.

  • Supporting the construction, calibration, and application of numerical groundwater flow models for predictive simulations.

  • Assisting in data management, including the integration of GIS and spatial datasets into modelling workflows.

  • Participating in uncertainty analyses and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance modelling practices.

  • Contributing to technical reports that support environmental impact assessments and operational water management decisions.

  • Collaborating with hydrogeologists and specialist modellers to deliver high-quality outputs on time and within budget.

What you’ll bring

  • Knowledge of analytical and numerical groundwater modelling packages; experience with MODFLOW and PEST is preferred.

  • Familiarity with GIS and programming tools such as Python or MATLAB.

  • Ability to plan and deliver modelling tasks, including estimating time and resource requirements.

  • A tertiary qualification in Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.

  • Current C-class WA driver’s license.

  • A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for learning and growth within a leading mining company.

Desirable

  • Previous field experience, including hydraulic testing, seepage mitigation, and well field optimization.

  • Exposure to stochastic or probabilistic modelling methods.

  • Advanced knowledge or postgraduate studies in hydrogeology or environmental engineering.

Where you’ll be working

This role is based at our Perth Central Park office, with travel to Pilbara iron ore operations as required. You’ll gain exposure to water management challenges across the full project lifecycle, from greenfield development to closure.
