King of the Hills (KOTH) is the flagship operation of Vault Minerals Limited and one of the largest gold mines in Australia. Undergoing significant expansion, KOTH is nearing completion of a 7.5 million tonne per annum (Mtpa) processing plant (previously 5.2Mtpa), providing a solid platform for long-term production growth. This dynamic operation combines open-pit and underground mining, with exciting exploration activities driving the future. KOTH is located approximately 900 km northeast of Perth and 25 km north of Leonora, within the Goldfields Region of Western Australia.
Reporting to the Mobile Maintance Supervisor, the HV Fitter will be responsible for performing maintenance, repairs, diagnostics, and servicing of heavy vehicles, machinery, and equipment in both workshop and field environments. The role ensures all mechanical work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies, manufacturer specifications, and relevant regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities of this role will include:
- Perform routine servicing, inspections, and repairs on a variety of heavy surface mining equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out corrective action in a timely and effective manner.
- Dismantle, assess, repair, and reassemble engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and other mechanical components.
- Use diagnostic tools and OEM software to troubleshoot issues.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and drivetrain issues on heavy mobile equipment.
- Maintain accurate service and maintenance records in line with company procedures.
- Adhere to all workplace health and safety (WHS) requirements, ensuring safe working practices at all times.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to coordinate maintenance schedules and priorities.
- Assist in maintaining workshop tools, equipment, and spare parts inventory to ensure availability and operational efficiency.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of maintenance practices, procedures, and workshop operations.
About You
- Previous field service OR breakdown experience working on surface mining equipment.
- Trade qualified Heavy Duty Diesel Fitter (Cert III in Mobile Plant Technology or equivalent)
- Sound diagnostic and fault-finding skills, with the ability to read and interpret technical manuals and drawings.
- Previous exposure and familiarity with a range of heavy machinery (e.g. Hitachi and CAT).
- Working knowledge of the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act 2020 the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022.
- Holds a High Risk Work (HRW) Licence (LF – Forklift)
- Current certifications in Working at Heights and Confined Space Entry.
- A current WA Driver’s License (manual C Class)
