LAP Traineeship Water & Tailings Operator

We are looking for LAP (Local Aboriginal Persons) Trainee to join the Water and Tailings team as a water and Wastewater Operator. Your role will include maintaining monitoring and operating potable water and wastewater treatments.

Duties include:

·       Operate potable water and wastewater treatment plants at Amrun, Andoom and Weipa Township

·       Potable water and wastewater sampling and lab testing

·       Maintenance of potable water and wastewater assets

·       Routine plant maintenance (repair/service/calibration of plant equipment)

·       Responding to plant/ equipment failures

·       The ordering and restocking of chemicals and other plant consumables

·       The monitoring of plant performance and optimisation of water treatment processes within set parameters/ guidelines

Successful applicants must be:

·       Have Current Open Driver’s License.

·      Have LAP status approval

·       Be able to communicate effectively withing a team environment

·       Be Physically fit and able to carry out tasks in the indoors.

·       Be able to operate a computer and be proficient in word and be able to send and receive emails and communicate with suppliers

·       Be enthusiastic and have a passion to work within a team

·       Undertake vaccination requirements - (Hepatitis A & B, Tetanus)
