Manager Investor Relations
Rio Tinto
Investor Relations Manager – Melbourne
Work in a collaborative, high-performing environment where success is achieved by working together
Play a leading role in the business strategy and engage with key partners across the organisation
Permanent full-time role based in Melbourne, Australia
About the role
Finding better ways to provide the materials the world needs.
This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role within Rio Tinto’s Investor Relations team, based in Melbourne and working closely with the Investor Relations head office in London. You will play a crucial part in shaping and communicating Rio Tinto’s investment case to the Asia-Pacific (APAC) financial community, while also contributing to global investor relations activities.
You will work in a highly dynamic environment that combines strategic thinking with day-to-day execution. The role requires someone who is comfortable getting into the detail, who thrives on collaboration across functions, and who can pick up complex information quickly to represent the company externally with credibility and confidence.
Reporting to the General Manager Investor Relations, you will:
Provide input to the development of IR strategy and messaging, tailored to the APAC audience.
Organise and execute regular engagements with the investment community, including quarterly updates, results presentations, site visits, and conferences.
Support major Investor Relations events throughout the year across both APAC and globally, managing delivery within set budgets and timeframes.
Engage across internal stakeholders including Strategy, Finance, Production Groups, Corporate Communications, and senior leadership to align messaging and ensure market insights are embedded into decision-making.
Monitor earnings consensus, review analyst models, and ensure Rio Tinto’s financial guidance is accurately reflected externally.
Be prepared for a moderate level of travel (domestic and international) and regular evening calls with London teams.
Provide a clear path for potential internal progression, offering development for candidates with the drive to grow within Investor Relations and broader leadership roles.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive, hard-working individual with a strong financial background (banking, consultancy, financial markets) who wants to contribute directly to Rio Tinto’s market positioning and investor engagement.
What you will bring
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
A tertiary qualification in accounting, commerce, finance, legal, engineering, or an MBA background.
Strong interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills, with an ability to manage internal and external stakeholders effectively.
A solid understanding of financial markets and how they influence corporate valuations.
Technical analysis and problem-solving skills, with curiosity and a drive to think differently to solve complex business challenges.
Adept reporting skills and an ability to navigate obstacles and roadblocks.
Knowledge of Rio Tinto’s operating model, business priorities, and internal interfaces is an advantage.
Experience in working within a large multinational, mining, or industrial environment is desirable.
