The Manager Project Management Systems & Assurance is a highly collaborative leadership role, that centers on leading change initiatives that drive value within Rio Tinto projects. Sitting within the Project Performance and Improvement team, this opportunity underpins how major projects are delivered across the organisation.
About the role
The major responsibilities of the Manager Project Management Systems & Assurance are:
Ownership of the Rio Tinto major capital projects management system which sets out the way we deliver major projects in Rio Tinto. This includes leading system improvement projects, managing ongoing maintenance and improvements, incorporating capability frameworks, and development of training/onboarding material.
Ensuring project governance and assurance, including defining assurance processes within Rio Tinto major projects, coordinating overall project assurance plans and supporting projects through the implementation of the project governance standard, providing coaching as needed and driving improvement in the process.
Execution of select central initiatives that are not delivered by functional experts. This includes conducting regular ‘lessons learned’ activities and owning the overall ‘lessons learned’ process and database to support the identification of improvement opportunities.
Offering expert change management support across RioProjects for major change initiatives
Accountability for maintenance, improvement and implementation of the Unifier cost and contract system
Coaching, mentoring and leading a team, who are based across Australia and Canada
What you'll bring
A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Engineering, Business or other related field
Prior experience in change management, project controls, or contracts and procurement, built within a large scale, complex business environment
Proven track record working in major projects across a large, complex organisation where you’ve played a major role in driving organisational change
Demonstrated ability in building strong relationships across an organisation, and an ability to lead through influence
Prior experience leading people and teams
Global experience highly regarded, as is French or Spanish speaking ability

This role offers a Monday to Friday roster based at either Rio Tinto’s Perth, Brisbane or Montreal Head Office.
