As part of the People Engagement team, you will lead and drive global engagement initiatives at Rio Tinto, ensuring alignment with our strategic objectives and fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment. You will champion initiatives that enhance our organisational culture and elevate the employee experience on a global scale. Your role will involve developing and implementing strategic frameworks and methodologies to optimise various aspects of our organisation, ultimately enhancing efficiency, productivity, and alignment with long-term business objectives.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, People Engagement and working in a global community within Human Resources, you will be responsible for:

  • Designing and implementing engagement and culture programs that align with organisational objectives and integrate with HR practices.
  • Conducting in-depth research and analysis to develop hypotheses on engagement, culture, and workforce dynamics, applying innovative ideas and practices to shape the future of work.
  • Evaluating and enhance organisational effectiveness through systematic thinking, identifying opportunities for process improvements and innovation.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and the People function as well as external partners to establish new agreements for service and thereafter effective governance and management.
  • Proactively seek better methods to enhance people engagement and performance.
  • Implement strategies to foster collaborative and high-performing teams, building trust, enhancing communication, and emphasising collective success to maximise effectiveness and productivity.
  • Identify opportunities across the broader Talent Area of Expertise and lead high priority projects, adapting and anticipating change.

Bringing this to life, five deliverables in the first year include supporting the design and implementation of the following projects:

  • Employee listening: enhancing employee experience through modernised listening approach.
  • Organisational health: Dashboard that measures productivity, employee engagement, and cultural alignment, enabling leaders to diagnose and improve their teams and align these metrics with organisational performance.
  • Team effectiveness: create a comprehensive approach that defines team stages, equips leaders and employees with essential tools and resources, and embeds our values to cultivate a culture of performance and collective success.
  • People Survey: Analysing insights and understanding systemic trends and making strategic recommendations.
  • People Performance: evolve and embed the frameworks, systems, processes, and tools to drive performance excellence across Rio Tinto.
