The Principal Business Performance is responsible for driving business performance across Iron Bridge Operations, underpinned by business planning, business improvement and value portfolio management. Reporting to the Senior Manager Joint Ventures & Business Planning, this role partners with the Iron Bridge Leadership Team, operational leaders and technical SMEs to identify, develop, prioritise and execute initiatives that maximise sustainable, long-term value.
The role combines strategic business planning with ground-up operational analysis and value portfolio management. It develops a multi year business plan and pipeline of performance and value initiatives informed by operational performance, constraints, risks and improvement opportunities. The role works with Iron Bridge operational leaders and technical SMEs to and supports development through to delivery and benefit realisation. This role also collaborates with peers across Mining Operations and Asset Management to share insights, leverage opportunities and contribute to broader business improvement and value management priorities as they evolve.
Success will be measured by the quality and influence of the role’s contribution to Iron Bridge’s business performance, particularly through Plan reliability, stronger forward visibility. This includes enabling operational leaders to identify and act on emerging risks through effective leading-indicator management, establishing clear performance drivers and measures, maintaining a robust forward business plan and developing scenarios and optionality to support informed decision-making as conditions change. Success will also be demonstrated through the identification and prioritisation of material value opportunities, successful execution and delivery support of improvement initiatives, and sustained realisation of operational and financial benefits
Key Responsibilities
- Lead business performance, improvement and value management across Iron Bridge Operations to drive sustained value creation and operational excellence.
- Establish a performance framework using leading indicators, performance drivers and early-warning measures to identify risks, constraints and opportunities.
- Lead forward business planning by maintaining the baseline plan and developing scenarios and options to support informed decision-making.
- Develop and prioritise a multi-year pipeline of improvement and value initiatives across the Iron Bridge value chain.
- Identify and assess value opportunities through data analysis, root cause analysis, engineering evaluation and review of process, equipment, reliability and production constraints.
- Evaluate the technical and economic basis of opportunities, including impacts on throughput, recovery, reliability, operating costs, capital requirements and implementation risk.
- Facilitate cross-functional problem-solving and partner with initiative owners to deliver priority improvements, remove barriers, track performance, validate benefits and provide clear reporting to leadership.
- Partner with operational leaders and initiative owners to progress improvement initiatives, resolve barriers and deliver realised benefits.
- Lead selected value opportunities from identification and technical assessment through implementation and benefit realisation.
- Maintain fit-for-purpose governance and visibility of performance, planning and value opportunities, using operational, financial and asset data to track progress, identify emerging risks and provide clear reporting to leadership to support timely intervention and prioritisation.
Qualifications and Experience
- 8+ years of experience in mining operations, process engineering, operational improvement, business improvement or related roles within mining, resources or heavy industry.
- Strong understanding of mining and processing operations, including key production, process, reliability and cost drivers, with the ability to understand operational constraints and identify opportunities for performance improvement.
- Demonstrated experience using operational and process data to investigate performance gaps, undertake root cause analysis and develop practical improvement opportunities in partnership with operational and technical teams.
- Proven experience developing and delivering operational improvement or value creation initiatives, including assessing impacts on throughput, recovery, reliability, operating costs and capital requirements.
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to translate technical and operational opportunities into quantified business value, including development of business cases and evaluation of technical and economic trade-offs.
- Demonstrated ability to work across operations, processing, maintenance, engineering, technical and commercial teams and influence senior stakeholders and initiative owners to drive delivery and sustained outcomes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with experience applying structured problem solving, data analysis and continuous improvement methodologies to complex operational issues
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering or a related technical discipline, with experience in mineral processing and mining operations highly regarded; qualifications in Commerce, Finance, Economics or Business combined with relevant operational experience will also be considered.
