We’re seeking an experienced and solutions-focused Principal Consulting Engineer to help us drive performance across our underground mining operations worldwide. This is a unique opportunity to work within a technically diverse, fast-evolving team that combines operational support, engineering studies, business improvement, and long-term project delivery.

About the Role:

As a Principal Consulting Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in delivering underground technical excellence and driving continuous improvement across our global operations. Working closely with internal teams and external clients, you’ll advise on mine design, drill & blast, scheduling, ventilation, and planning, while also leading key initiatives that deliver safe production and optimised performance.

This position reports to the Head of Mining Technical Performance. You’ll be based in Perth, with irregular travel to sites across Australia, Africa, and North America.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-impact technical solutions across a diverse portfolio of underground mining projects
  • Lead and contribute to operational support, technical studies, tender support, and cost forecasting activities
  • Provide expert input on mine design, drill and blast, ventilation, and scheduling
  • Conduct technical reviews and support mine planning across monthly, weekly and life-of-mine horizons
  • Identify and implement business improvement opportunities with a strong safety and performance focus
  • Coach and mentor internal team members and support capability development across the group
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, site teams, and key stakeholders across all regions

About you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering (or equivalent)
  • 10 years in-depth Technical and Operational experience across different mining methods.
  • 5+ years’ experience leading or mentoring teams in a technical capacity
  • Deswik software expertise (essential); Ventsim and other design/scheduling software highly regarded
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical reporting
  • Understanding of statutory requirements; Underground Supervisor or First Class Mine Managers certification highly valued
  • A proactive, collaborative approach and a passion for problem-solving
