We are currently looking for a Process Engineer to join our central operational support team. Our OC Support team provides technical support and delivers process improvement initiatives across Rio Tinto Iron Ore. These roles are Perth based with occasional site travel.

We are a high-performing, engaged team of technical specialists working within a structure that supports collaborative problem solving with the operating business. Our new RTIO Process Engineering Division is dedicated to providing technical support to improve performance of our current and future operations, including our green steel pathway. Opportunities exist for operational and technically focussed process engineers with career pathways to senior levels.

 About the role

  • Engaging stakeholders to provide technical process guidance and support across the value chain
  • Identifying and implementing process improvement initiatives to support current and future strategy and driving best practice and cross site processing replication opportunities
  • Providing subject matter expertise for processing unit operations across our existing and future dry, wet and concentrator processing plants
  • Analysing unit operation and plant performance to understand processing potential across our operations
  • Leading testwork programs including sample processing, process modelling, metallurgical test work and analysis

What you’ll bring

  • Background in process engineering or related technical discipline with fixed plant operational experience
  • Ability to work across discipline and geographic boundaries, connecting people to collaboratively solve problems
  • Experience in teams that have delivered improvements in safety and operating performance, and continuous improvement objectives
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (Process Engineering, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or equivalent)
  • An analytical approach with strong problem solving, report writing and presentations skills
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Experience with process flowsheet modelling and programming would be beneficial

Where you will be working

Our integrated iron ore network is supported by our Operations Centre (OC) in Perth, a state-of-the-art facility that enables all the autonomous trucks, trains and drills at our mines, ports and rail systems to be operated from a single location. The Centre incorporates visualisation and collaboration tools to provide real-time information across our demand chain and allows us to optimise our mining, maintenance and logistic activities across the Pilbara in a way never before possible. Located near the Perth domestic airport, the OC operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to coordinate our integrated network of mines, rail, and ports from 1,500km away.
