About the role
We are looking for a Project Controls Manager to join our Rio Tinto Projects team to lead the project controls function for the Winu Feasibility Study and following notice to proceed Project Execution. The role will be based in Perth and will require travel to the project site on a regular basis during execution.
This role is a great opportunity to lead and motivate the Project Controls team, provide technical advice and support to Project Director, Study Manager and the broader Project Services team.
Reporting to the Senior Manager Project Services, you will be responsible for:
Partnering with Project Management to deliver the project controls function and deliverables through the study and execution phases
Leading project controls personnel to deliver timely and accurate cost and schedule information to project management to enable mitigations or to pursue opportunities
Managing project controls processes and ensuring compliance with Rio Tinto Projects systems, policies and procedures
Preparing and validating project reports, as well as regular auditing of project controls reporting, cost and schedule status
Working with and supporting Package Owners and Area Managers to ensure package progress and cost forecasts are accurate
Execution Estimate and Schedule delivery, review and presentations to senior management
Stakeholder Management within the study, project and wider Rio Tinto business
About you
To be considered for this role, you will have:
15+ years of hands-on experience in Project Controls attained within a major project environment
Previous success in leading and developing a team of Project Controls professionals
Familiarity with project, project controls and procurement systems (e.g., SAP, PM+, SharePoint, Unifier, Primavera P6).
Experience working with Contracts and Procurement project teams to align on contracting strategies, budget allocations, forecasting and claims assessment
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Degree qualification in Engineering or Business/Commerce or similar
It will also be beneficial if you have:
Project controls experience across multiple project delivery models – EPCM, Owner Execute, Integrated Teams etc
You should also be passionate about delivering pragmatic, optimised solutions and have a drive for results and appetite for constructive challenge.
