We currently have a vacancy for a Project Engineer, reporting to the Surface Asset Integrity Remediation Team within Integrated Operations.

The Challenge Ahead

As a Project Engineer, you will play a key role in remediating critical surface assets across Olympic Dam to ensure a safe, reliable platform for ongoing operations and future growth. Working as part of the Surface Asset Integrity Remediation Team, you will contribute to the successful delivery of a portfolio of remediation projects in a complex mining and minerals processing environment.

This role offers a unique opportunity to combine engineering expertise, stakeholder engagement and project delivery capability to support one of Australia's most significant mining assets. You will work closely with operational, technical and governance stakeholders to develop practical, safe and sustainable remediation solutions that maximise value and minimise disruption to production.

What You'll Bring to the Role

We're looking for an experienced engineering professional who enjoys solving complex challenges, collaborating across multidisciplinary teams and delivering outcomes safely and efficiently.

You will bring:

  • Degree qualifications in Structural Engineering, with additional qualifications in Project Management or Civil Engineering viewed favourably.
  • Experience or a strong understanding of mining, processing, heavy industry or construction environments. Exposure to structural steel and concrete remediation projects will be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated capability in delivering projects or engineering studies.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, collaboration and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities, coordinate contractors and work effectively across multiple workstreams.
  • Sound technical and commercial judgement, supported by clear communication and influencing skills.
  • The capability to develop concise reports and presentations for senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Lead by example and actively foster a culture of care and safety.
  • Review engineering assessments and identify structural remediation requirements.
  • Partner with Structural Engineers to develop fit-for-purpose remediation solutions.
  • Collaborate with operational stakeholders to ensure solutions are practical, effective and minimise production impacts.
  • Work closely with governance and technical stewardship teams to ensure compliance with relevant safety, engineering and design standards.
  • Develop scopes of work, manage tendering and support contractor selection processes.
  • Monitor project performance against scope, budget, schedule and delivery objectives.
  • Support the planning, execution and commissioning of remediation projects while effectively managing risks and maximising constructability outcomes.
  • Contribute to project reporting and uphold BHP Charter Values, Leadership expectations and Code of Business Conduct.

Work Location

This position operates on a 4/3 roster at Olympic Dam and a 5/2 arrangement in the Adelaide office, with FIFO provided from Adelaide.
