ABOUT GEMCO

Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is a Permanent position on a 4:3 roster Monday to Thursday, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns. Residential option to live on Groote Eylandt considered.  

As the Principal Projects, you will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of a portfolio of capital projects, ensuring compliance with governance, safety and technical standards.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

• Oversee design, procurement & construction across the assigned portfolio
• Direct & coordinate internal teams, consultants & contractors
• Manage contracts, tenders & stakeholder relationships
• Monitor risks, performance & project documentation throughout lifecycle

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

• Leading complex, multi-disciplinary capital projects, ideally within mining
• Mentoring and developing diverse teams, including new starters and contractors
• Navigating tollgate approval processes to meet governance and project milestones
• Remaining adaptable, patient & solutions-focused in a growing team setting
• Building strong relationships with stakeholders & contractors

Qualifications for this position are: 

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering or related field
• Project Management certification (e.g. PMP or equivalent) - Desirable
• Current ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence
