About the Role
We currently have permanent opportunities available for a Track Machine Operator or Operator/Maintainer to join the team here in Port Hedland. This is a FIFO opportunity on 2:2 or 8:6 roster.
Reporting to the Supervisor of Track Machine Operations your duties will include the following:
- Ensure conformance with the BHP Charter, the BHP Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations;
- An overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development;
- Competently operate a variety of Track Machines including Ballast Regulators, Production Tampers and Switch Tampers on all BHP Iron Ore Pilbara lines consistent with Operating Rules, Regulations and Safe Work Procedures Applicable.
- Comprehensive knowledge of railway network including locations of sidings, signals and road crossings which forms signed Route Knowledge.
- Undertake inspections of Track Machines, mobile plant, maintenance tools and equipment. Guided by daily check list for the applicable machine.
- Follow specific maintenance, operational and compliance procedures.
- Undertake training as required to gain new skills.
- Comply with all mine and rail safe working requirements.
- Take personal responsibility for helping the team to achieve expected results.
- Ensure that all documentation and data entry is accurately completed and sent in on a daily basis in conjunction with Daily Report
- Perform on site diagnostics concerning fault rectification
About You
As the successful candidate you aspire to be and exhibit the following traits:
- Cert II in Rail Infrastructure (Mandatory)
- Trade Certificate, Mechanical or Electrical (Mandatory) for Operator/Maintainer role.
- A high commitment to safety, quality and attention to detail and procedure
- A strong desire to learn and a high level of enthusiasm to develop a range of new skills
- Quality focused with a drive to achieve results for the team
- Previous experience operating on Plasser Track Machines is preferred but not essential.
- Previous experience maintaining Plasser Track Machines is preferred but not essential.
- Experience using Plasser ALC programme is preferred but not essential.
- Must hold a current driver’s license.
- Good communication skills.
- Computer literacy skills
- Be able to pass a Category #1 Rail medical (Mandatory)
Location
You will be based at Port Hedland on a fly-in fly-out 2:2 or 8:6 roster. Port Hedland is home to our port and rail operations and is the largest regional centre in North West Australia. The outstanding facilities at the FIFO villages include; a fully equipped gym, TV lounge and games rooms. Additionally you will have access to the state of the art aquatic and sporting facilities in the town of Port Hedland. All rooms at the villages have their own en-suite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.
