About the role
We are looking for a Risk Business Partner in the Perth Hub to support the Research, Development & Studies team in supporting our Iron Ore studies (Order of Magnitude through to Feasibility studies). In this role you will support the Iron Ore Studies team directly, and as required may also undertake work for the broader Iron Ore Product Group as required, while being an important part of the Perth Hub Risk Area of Expertise (AoE) within our global Rio Tinto Finance team. The purpose of the Risk AoE is to partner with our business to embed risk management into Rio Tinto’s core business processes and decision making in pursuit of both creating and protecting value, future prospects and reputation.
This role is a great opportunity for an individual with a strong partnership mindset who understands the value of considering risk and uncertainty in business decision making, as well as the role of assurance in ensuring appropriate governance and controls are in place. The right candidate recognises the importance of the organisation meeting its corporate and legal obligations effectively, while securing value-adding opportunities and managing threats that could impact achieving objectives, as well as protecting people, assets and reputation.
Reporting to the Perth Hub Risk Lead, you will (for specified area(s) of accountability):
contribute to and review analysis and interpretation of risk information;
support and champion initiatives to drive effective consideration of risk in core decision making processes;
plan and deliver risk management programs of work;
provide risk management advice to support businesses and projects consider potentially complex problems through a risk lens;
monitor risk management programs and processes to provide management with assurance that there is a sound risk management program in place.

develop and maintains effective relationships at various levels within the business and with external stakeholders.
Prior experience in risk is helpful but not necessary. Qualified candidates from technical, financial and functional backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
About you
To succeed in this role, you will have:
Tertiary Qualification in a related field
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
Problem solving mindset coupled with intellectual curiosity
Experience in use of technology
Proven ability to work across all levels of the business
Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
