About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Advisor Inland Waters to join our Ecology team in Perth. In this role, you will lead a multidisciplinary program of work for Inland Waters to support Environmental Approvals.

Reporting to the Principal Ecology, in the Pilbara Environmental and Cultural Knowledge team , you will:

  • Facilitate and coordinate technical studies led by subject matter experts to the Inland Waters Guidance for Environmental Approvals

  • Consolidate multiple lines of evidence and provide risk-based advice to enable resource access

  • Lead and provide support on strategic regional projects to support long term mine plans

  • Build strong relationships through regular consultation with internal stakeholders and external experts and regulators

  • Use data-driven insights to provide advice and recommendations to enable resource access

  • Promote innovation and the use of technology to continuously improve the provision of technical and strategic advice

  • Advise on State and Federal policy and legislative requirements in the implementation and interpretation of the Inland Waters Guidance and other related factors

  • Collaborate closely and be a conduit with other functions and stakeholders in the performance of duties

What you’ll bring

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • A tertiary degree in ecology, hydrology, hydrogeology or environmental related discipline

  • Extensive experience in an environmental or water related role within the resources industry or similar

  • In depth knowledge and understanding of State and Federal environmental legislation

  • Knowledge of environmental management relevant to inland waters

  • Effective project management, prioritsation, scheduling and coordination skills

  • Strong written, interpersonal and communications skills

  • A strong understanding of Microsoft software applications

  • Experience utilising GIS software (desirable)

Where you’ll be working

This role is based in Perth, at our head office in Central Park, working Monday – Friday. There will be the opportunity for some Pilbara site travel from time to time, however this will be done on an ad-hoc basis.
