About the Business
We are currently seeking a passionate and motivated Senior Drill and Blast Engineer to join our team in Blackwater! Operating continuously since1982 Yarrabee has a strong long term future outlook for ongoing coal production. The site employs a workforce of approximately 400 people, which proudly boasts it's integrated close knit culture of people who collectively pull together as a team. Yarrabee Mine's long history and strong future creates an exciting challenge for developing and navigating the requirements of the future. Yarrabee is a subsidery of Yancoal Australia which is Australia’s largest pure play coal producer. It boasts three tier one thermal coal mines in New South Wales together with interests in three other metallurgical and thermal coal mines located in New South Wales and Queensland. About the Role
Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent within the Tech Services team, you will be apart of a dynamic and motivated team. The role will require you to:
- Maintain and ensure reports are kept up to date whilst identifying opportunities for improvement
- Develop, present and communicate weekly plans in a timely manner
- Ensure the delivery of accurate mine plans that meet the needs of the site short term and operational departments
- Monitor mining performance against short to ensure waste movement and coal flow schedules meet budgeted movement
- Build positive working relationships with both internal and external parties
Skills and Experience

Along with promoting and driving the Yancoal values of People, Safety, Innovation, Integrity and Excellence. To be successful in the role you will also have the following skills and attributes:
- Tertiary Qualification in Mining Engineering or similar technical discipline
- Min. 2 Years experience in an Open Cut Mining Operational Planning encompassing short term truck & shovel, drill & blast and dozer push activities
- Strong verbal & written communication skills
- High level analytical and problem solving skills
- Proficient in open cut mine design and drill & blast design
- Highly developed skills pertaining to mining software packages and engineering practices(Vulcan skills are desirable)
- Skilled in hazard identification & responsive to safety issues
- Strong Microsoft office skills
- Experienced in maintaining communication across a number of departments.
- Sound understanding of individual responsibilities in relation to the Coal Mining Safety &Health Act &associated regulations
- Current Australian Drivers license (manual transmission)
- Current Standard 11 Mine Induction Surface (desirable)
