Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 15% of the world’s manganese ore production. ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is a Permanent position on a 4:3 Monday to Thursday roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns. Residential option to live on Groote Eylandt considered.  

As the Senior Hydrogeologist Water Management & Planning, you will be responsible for providing specialist hydrogeological advice, supporting mine water governance, and delivering technical insights that underpin safe operations and stable production.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

  • Provides technical expertise for mine water management, groundwater and surface water investigations
  • Develop and execute water management strategies, forecasts and inventory plans that enable the strategic mine plan
  • Reviews mine water designs, modelling and standards to optimise dewatering and operational readiness
  • Delivers water balance, hydrological and hydrogeological analysis to support planning, compliance and future development projects

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

  • Delivering hydrogeological assessments, dewatering strategies and water modelling in mining or complex hydrogeological environments
  • Analysing groundwater, surface water and dewatering data to drive operational and planning decisions
  • Collaborating across multidisciplinary teams and communicating technical findings clearly
  • Applying structured risk, quality and safety processes to technical work and investigations

Qualifications for this position are: 

  • Tertiary qualification in Hydrogeology, Civil Engineering, Water Resources or equivalent
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence
