ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is a Permanent position on a 9-day fortnight roster, DIDO to our Boddington Bauxite Mine located a short drive from the community of Boddington (10 minutes), Pinjarra (50 minutes) and the City of Mandurah (1 hour).

Reporting to the Superintendent A&I, as the Senior Mechanical Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to provide specialised A&I support and expertise focused on Mobile Equipment (ME). You will play a key role in developing, deploying, and continuously improving maintenance strategies for our Mobile Equipment Fleet, ensuring the effectiveness of work strategies while meeting legislative and statutory requirements.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead the development and implementation of equipment maintenance strategies for the Mobile Equipment Fleet (ME), with a strong focus on maintaining and improving performance. The fleet includes, but is not limited to, Caterpillar 785 Haul trucks, Hitachi 2600 Excavators, Komatsu 475 Dozers, Atlas Copco T45 Drill rigs, and Caterpillar 993 Loaders.
• Manage and mentor a team of mechanical specialists, enhancing their expertise specifically in Mobile Equipment maintenance and fostering best practices across the board.
• Oversee Safety Critical Equipment compliance, ensuring timely inspections and repairs using SAP, with an emphasis on Mobile Equipment reliability and performance.
• Drive continuous improvements in quality control, ensuring the technical capabilities of your team align with the latest Mobile Equipment advancements and best practices.

ABOUT YOU

You’re a seasoned engineer with:

• A strong, hands-on background in Mobile Equipment Maintenance & Reliability in the mining industry – this is essential for success in this role.
• Proven expertise in developing and executing Mobile Equipment maintenance strategies to enhance operational performance.
• Demonstrated experience in engineering design and change management, particularly within a Mobile Equipment context in a brownfield mining environment.
• A Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent) and the ability to manage engineering budgets and schedules.

Qualifications for this position are:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
• Minimum 2 years in an equivalent Mobile Equipment Mechanical Engineering role.
