In support of Fortescue’s strong focus on green energy and our carbon neutrality targets, one of our key initiatives is in our Green Fleet projects whereby we are designing and developing to production a range of technologies to power our mining fleet. 

Our Mobile Mining Equipment division is rapidly expanding and we require a Senior Process Engineer to join our Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Systems team.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Lead and mentor a team of multidisciplinary engineering team to deliver the Fuels Engineering deliverables
  • Coordinate activity with other engineering disciplines including working with your peers to deliver the projects
  • Participate in design reviews and approve detailed designs
  • Ability to adjust to change quickly and adapt to new requirements
  • Providing technical guidance to the project management team for all fuel storage, distribution and fuel cell engineering related works being carried out
  • Proactively deliver on the company’s stretch targets
  • Develop technical specifications to meet project specific objectives.
  • Interpret, manage and approval of engineering drawings, documents, specifications and scopes.
  • Resolution of technical and design issues.
  • Ensure compliance to the project management process by project owners
  • Provide guidance regarding project budget, cash flow and schedule for existing and future projects
  • Liaising with a range of key stakeholders on all technical aspects of projects
  • Providing regular updates to the Engineering Manager including work progress, risks and priorities

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering degree
  • Significant experience within the oil and gas, automotive, heavy machinery or related industry and comfortable to work in the capacity of a subject matter expert
  • Demonstrated experience with leading a technical team of engineers
  • Experience with High pressure gaseous and low temperature liquid storage vessel engineering activity including concept definition, detail design, fabrication, commissioning and start up
  • Gaseous and liquid on vehicle and off vehicle fuel storage, re-fuelling, distribution and technology aspects of Green Fleet Development projects in a safe, timely and sustainable manner (desirable)
  • Hydrogen fuel cell engineering activity including concept definition, product development, detail design, integration and validation (desirable)
  • Experience in safety design review, HAZOP, HAZID, PID review, SIL is desirable
  • Thorough understanding of applicable regulatory and safety standards for gaseous fuel storage, distribution and use within the mining, rail and marine industries is desirable
