Work Location: Hedland Operations - Fortescue’s Hedland Operations are located on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people.
Roster: 4D/4N/8R - FIFO ex Perth or residential
Fortescue Metals Group are currently seeking motivated personnel to join our team as a Shunter, to be based in Port Hedland on a FIFO or residential basis. Reporting to the Rail Operations Hedland Supervisor, you will be responsible for meeting customer needs by safely, reliably and efficiently shunting rollingstock.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide visible safety leadership by modelling positive safety behaviours in the workplace
- Perform a wide range of duties including but not limited to shunting, loco cleaning and fuelling, general yard work, minor repairs, vehicle checks and assisting RSM technicians as requested
- Propose improvement solutions based on anticipated or recurring problems and highlight possible solutions to the Supervisor Rail Operations
- Continually improve team performance and costs by optimisation of ground shunting disciplines
Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience as a shunter
- Capability to pass a Category 2 Rail Medical
- A demonstrated commitment to Safety and Safe working
- Good ability to problem solve and make decisions
- Previous experience of working effectively with a limited amount of supervision
- A current Drivers licence
- Good computer literacy in MS Office software
