About the role
We are looking for a Capability & Development Superintendent to join our Capability & Development team at our Operations Centre near Perth Airport.
This is a people leadership role responsible for leading the Capability Development Control team, which supports all automation and control operations to Mine, Rail, and Port at the Operations Centre. Partnering closely with the business to understand and meet internal stakeholders’ learning goals and objectives that will lead uplift of safety, production, and culture. This exciting opportunity will see you as part of a collaborative team who strives to provide exceptional customer service.
Reporting to the Manager Capability & Development, you will be responsible for:
Lead, motivate, and empower team to achieve their best performance and through changes
Ensure alignment to CD strategy that outlines a targeted approach to uplifting capability within allocated business operation/site including technical skills, leadership, and culture
People management and performance management - including P6, check-ins cadences, quarterly and annual reviews
Manage contracted service partnerships including vendors who specialise in control systems and their training services and trainers.
Partner with key stakeholders to identify capability development needs/opportunities and leverage learning specialist to drive tailored learning solutions
Lead team of trainers who coach, train and facilitate competency and capability uplift for automated plant and mining operations.
Conduct cadences effectively and with meaningful outcomes, with actions identified and taken accordingly
Support functional partners with the delivery of their strategic objectives through forming natural teams (Pod/Squad approach)
Budget: Annual and Quarterly budget reviews completed on time and accurately
Provide efficient Operational Management support – including HR case management; leadership engagement, handovers/shift starts; site strategy and site-specific projects
Proactively identify, coordinate and lead improvement in learning solutions and relevant initiatives / technology
Oversee all aspects of record keeping and reporting to ensure corporate and statutory requirements are met and best practice standards are achieved.

Where you’ll be working
This role is being offered in Perth based out of our Operations Centre, near the Perth Airport. Our privately owned and operated rail network is an essential part of our integrated production process and services our 17 mines across the Pilbara via 1,700km of track.
With depots located at Tom Price, Cape Lambert and Dampier (7 Mile), each train comprises up to three locomotives and 240 ore cars stretching to approximately 2.5 kilometres in length with over 40 trains operating per day. We are also applying and adapting technology to improve safety and productivity across our rail network.
