ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is a Permanent position on 9-day fortnight – DIDO to our Boddington Mine, located a short drive from the community of Boddington (10 minutes), Pinjarra (50 minutes) and the City of Mandurah (1 hour). Dedicated bus service to and from Boddington based sites from major hubs (Mandurah, Pinjarra, Dwellingup and Armadale)
As the Superintendent Drill & Blast & Exploration your role is to provide leadership and direction to the Drill, Blast and Exploration (Vacuum Drilling) teams and effectively manage the execution of all drill, blast and exploration processes (including supporting heritage surveys) to achieve required performance targets for HSEC, people, volume and cost.
To provide coaching and mentoring to frontline leaders in the areas of risk assessment, risk management, performance management, visual felt leadership and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety and Risk
- Rigorously apply and continue to review South32’s Risk Management policies principles, tools and investigation methodologies to ensure our people are not exposed to illness or injury.
- Ensure drill, blasting and vacuum drilling execution personnel are fully competent to work effectively and safely.
- Identify and demonstrate awareness of material safety risks relevant to your area, ensuring critical controls are verified and in place.
- Ensure compliance with all legislative requirements.
- Manage contractors to ensure compliance with operating standards, procedures and work instructions.
Leadership
- Lead the team to execute the drill, blast and vacuum drill processes and equipment safely and in accordance with the schedule, process specifications and the operations technical standards.
- Develop the drill, blast and vacuum drill budget by reviewing existing work plans.
- Supervise the execution of the schedule to achieve established performance targets on HSEC, volume and cost.
- Ensure resource requirements are fulfilled, manage issues and propose solutions for effective execution of strategy.
Technical
- Lead the team to execute the drill, blast and vacuum drill processes and equipment safely and in accordance with the schedule, process specifications and the operations technical standards.
- Develop the drill, blast and vacuum drill budget by reviewing existing work plans.

ABOUT YOU
Experience/Technical Skills
- Strong problem-solving skills and application of theory of constraints thinking to improve output.
- Substantial knowledge of corporate support functions and their role in enabling industry leading mining performance.
- Ability to grasp concepts quickly and leverage the skills and experience of key stakeholders to solve problems.
Qualifications for this position are:
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant discipline (Engineering or geoscience) desirable
- WA Quarry Manager Certification or ability to acquire within 12 months
- Schedule 26 Statutory Supervisor appointment
