We’re looking for an experienced Superintendent Operations Planning to lead and enhance our surface mine planning processes. This is a key leadership role where your expertise will directly influence operational success and continuous improvement.

We are looking for a mine Superintendent Operations Planning. This role, based in Brisbane with regular travel to operating sites, oversee the development and execution of mine planning systems that support safe, productive, and cost-effective mining. You’ll lead a team of engineers and technicians, ensuring alignment between planning and operational execution across all time horizons.

Reporting to the Manager - Integrated Planning, and working in a collaborative community you will:
Drive Planning Excellence: Maintain robust, fit-for-purpose planning, scheduling, and reporting systems that ensure accurate, timely, and actionable information for both operational execution and strategic decision-making.
Lead Engineering Systems Implementation: Oversee the deployment and continuous improvement of mining engineering systems, including production scheduling, forecasting, and performance reporting.
Performance Monitoring & Optimization: Continuously monitor operational performance, partnering with the Operations team to identify and implement safe, effective improvements in productivity and output quality. Escalate issues where necessary to maintain alignment with business goals.
Schedule Variance Management: Track and report deviations from short- and medium-term mine plans, ensuring timely communication with Operations and proactive escalation of critical variances.
Risk Management Leadership: Facilitate and contribute to technical risk assessments, ensuring that all planning activities are underpinned by a strong risk management framework.
Procedure Development & Review: Develop and review procedures related to technical risk mitigation, ensuring alignment with best practices and operational safety standards.
Capability Development: Monitor the technical capability of the planning team, identifying skill gaps and making strategic recommendations for recruitment and development to ensure safe and efficient delivery of mine schedules.
Mentorship & Technical Support: Provide hands-on coaching and technical guidance to engineers and technicians, fostering a high-performance culture and supporting professional growth within the team.
What you’ll bring

Extensive experience in surface mine planning and operations.
Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence across teams.
Proven ability to manage complex planning systems and drive continuous improvement.
A commitment to safety, operational excellence, and team development.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and manage potential conflict in a constructive and effective manner.
Strong problem solving and mine planning skills.
Previous experience and comprehensive understanding of open cut/ pit operations
Engineering degree or comparative work experience.
