We are currently seeking a Superintendent Projects and Shutdowns at our Coppabella Moorvale Joint Venture (CMJV) – Coppabella Mine. Our CMJV mine complex consists of two open-cut mine operations located approximately 140 kilometres southwest of Mackay that produce premium low-volatile pulverized coal (LV-PCI) for export markets.

About You:

We are seeking a committed and experienced Superintendent Projects and Shutdowns to join our team at Coppabella Mine, part of the Coppabella Moorvale Joint Venture (CMJV).

Reporting to the Maintenance & Engineering Manager, this critical leadership role is responsible for end to end management of maintenance projects and shutdowns across the site. You will oversee the full lifecycle of project planning and execution, ensuring shutdowns are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to a high operational standard.

In addition to project and shutdown oversight, you will also lead the Tyre and Light Vehicle bays. This includes accountability for the condition, maintenance, and performance of all mobile equipment tyres and Light Vehicles on site, ensuring all work is compliant with Peabody’s safety and quality standards.

This is a dynamic role suited to someone with strong coordination skills, a high level of technical know how, and a passion for leading teams to deliver consistent, high quality outcomes in a fast-paced mining environment.

Duties will include:

  • Lead end to end delivery of maintenance projects and scheduled shutdowns.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Manage site-wide safety compliance for project and shutdown activities.
  • Lead and mentor teams to drive performance and accountability.
  • Oversee Tyre and Light Vehicle bays, including maintenance and budget management.
  • Communicate with stakeholders, contractors, and suppliers to ensure alignment.
  • Identify and manage risks to minimise impact on operations.
  • Provide regular progress updates and reports to senior leaders.

About You:

  • Wealth of experience in open cut mining and plant environments
  • Proven track record in project management and shutdown coordination
  • Trade qualified or holds a degree/diploma in Engineering or Project Management
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
  • Exposure to heavy earthmoving tyre maintenance and Light Vehicle bays
  • Proficient in project management systems and tools
  • Safety-focused with a practical, hands-on approach
  • Confident managing teams, stakeholders, and contractor relationships in high-pressure environments

The lifestyle:

This position is offered on 9-day fortnight roster and can allow for a residential (Moranbah) DIDO or FIFO from Brisbane.
