About the Role

Reporting to the Manager Training & Mastery West, the Superintendent Technical Capability is a pivotal role supporting training and mastery activities across our West Coast operations. You will provide direct leadership to a team of Supervisors and Mastery Specialists; leading a team of Trainers and Assessors delivering training content, facilitating practical activities and assessing knowledge and competence to the highest quality standards. This role is crucial to promoting best practice safety and training to develop our future workforce within the Operations Services model. Additionally the role will be accountable for spearheading our Belt Splicing Apprenticeship program with responsibilities including overseeing the development and execution of the programs curriculum, providing guidance to both trainers and apprentices and fostering a collaborative growth orientated environment.  Your background in training management, coupled with your success in building and leading a team, implementing changes and building a positive workplace culture will be paramount in setting you up for success. This role is part Perth based and part on site at our various deployments across Western Australia and South Australia. 

About You

Along with your background in training management you will bring experience managing multiple stakeholders, ideally within mining or heavy industry and feel comfortable communicating at a variety of levels. Your presentation skills will lead the way; to both motivate and engage the team, as well as being a key representative of our values and safety when engaging with leaders and visitors. You will also:  

  • Be a motivated and supportive people leader, creating a culture of care and safety through engaging, developing and coaching your team;

  • Foster a culture that supports and promotes a diverse workforce; 

  • Ideally possess a current Cert IV in Workplace Training and Assessment; 

  • Have tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline - preferred;

  • Understand and have professional experience with VET legislative requirements; 

  • Have a willingness to lead and implement change, as well as influence, coach and model BHP values and behaviours.
