The Telfer Gold Mine is located in the Great Sandy Desert in the East Pilbara region of Western Australia and produces copper and gold. Macmahon will continue to deliver the surface drill and blast, load and haul, mobile maintenance and rehandle mine functions until late 2024 with a possibility of extension. Telfer camp has seen recent upgrades to facilities including refreshed dining, wet mess and gym.

Become an integral part of our high performing, close-knit maintenance team
We are currently looking for experienced Tyre Fitter to join our Maintenance Team at Telfer on a on a 2 weeks on 1 week off roster, flying in and out of Perth. Reporting to Maintenance Supervisor, Tyre Fitter is responsible for managing all rubber tyre applications on all mobile equipment.
Daily duties include, but are not limited to:
- Inspection of tyres and related components (e.g. rims) – checking for signs of damage and wear;
- Air pressure inspections;
- Measuring thread depths;
- Conducting period end checks of site fleet;
- Performing monthly stock takes within required guidelines;
- Embracing and supporting the maintenance departments planning strategy regarding work order management and defect elimination;
- Ensuring all relevant documents are submitted efficiently and accurately on time for processing;
- Ability and willingness to conduct other tasks when required.
About you:
- Previous experience in a similar role on a large scale mining project;
- Australian Recognised Trade Certificate in Tyre Fitter and Handling;
- Knowledge of and experience working on heavy mobile plant;
- Ability to work independently as well as a part of the team;
- Great interpersonal and communication skills;
- Demonstrating commitment to Macmahon safety culture and values; and
- Current Drivers Licence.
As a part of the recruitment process for this role you are required to complete a pre-employment medical, inclusive of laboratory drug and alcohol screen and complete a criminal history and qualification checks. Additionally you will must provide proof of working rights in Australia i.e. copy of valid Australian passport, birth certificate, citizenship certificate or current visa grant notification.
