Job Purpose
The Workshop Manager oversees the daily operations of the manufacturing workshop, ensuring smooth production, efficient use of resources, and a safe working environment. This role includes managing staff, meeting production and quality targets, maintaining equipment, and working with other departments to achieve company goals
Core Responsibilities
- Plan and prioritise workshop tasks to meet equipment and production schedules.
- Ensure all mechanical work is completed safely and to company standards.
- Lead, motivate, and develop your team, supporting training and performance growth.
- Supervise all workshop staff, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Conduct daily briefings and regular toolbox talks to keep the team aligned and informed.
- Oversee maintenance of tools and equipment to ensure safety and reliability.
- Manage resources, including labour, materials, and inventory, to keep production running smoothly.
- Monitor production, costs, and quality, resolving issues promptly.
- Collaborate with other departments to achieve operational goals
- Keep workshop machinery and equipment in top shape to minimise downtime.
- Drive improvements in efficiency, quality, and cost savings.
- Manage the workshop budget and optimise resources.
- Track production, inventory, and maintenance, providing updates to management.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, logistics, and quality teams to keep operations running smoothly.
What we need from you
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in heavy workshop and field maintenance, with supervisory experience.
- Trade qualified HD Mechanic
- Experienced in leading operations across multiple functions, including budget and delivery responsibilities.
- Strong leader with a proven ability to recruit, motivate, and manage a team.
- Focused on safety, able to identify risks and take action to reduce hazards.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and mechanical skills.
- Experience with mobile mining equipment and component rebuilds.
- Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic abilities.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Skilled in coaching and mentoring workshop staff.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong planning and organisation skills to monitor performance and schedule work efficiently.
